Fall Forage Official Rules

Registration

Participants can register until 12am CST on 10/3/2020. Get started here: http://sunrisevillageiowa.org/fall-forage

Minor Participants must have the permission of their parent(s)’s or legal guardian’s consent prior to participating in Fall Forage, and the minor and guardian must agree to be bound by these Official Rules.

Hunt Period

September 25, 2020 at 12pm CST until October 3, 2020 at 12pm CST

The List

All players who submit an email address during registration will receive an email on 9/25/2020 at 12pm CST containing the list. Items on the list are categorized as easy, moderate, and difficult. More points are available for increased difficulty. Bonus points available for exceptional quality or creativity. Players

Teams can be 2-6 players and must include at least one person who is 18 years old or older. Teams will be identified with a team name. Get creative! If a team chooses a crude name, the team captain will be contacted to choose another name. If no other name is chosen, one will be chosen on their behalf. 

Non-Players

Non-players can be used to help find items or help with a challenge and are held to the same standards, limitations of liability, media release, and privacy policy. 

We expect YOU or YOUR TEAM to be the primary participants in completing your Items. You are not permitted to crowdsource or purchase multiple Items wholly from third parties. The majority of your items must be sourced, created, and performed by your team – meaning at least one team member must be in the majority of the videos and images. 

Things To Do 

Items can be foraged or bought. Participants are responsible for 100% of any extra costs incurred.

Be kind and respectful of all people and and their property.

PLAY SAFELY! If you believe an item on the list would be harmful to you or anyone else, do not do that item.

Be original! All pictures and videos must be original to the individual or team player(s).

Things NOT To Do 

As much as you may want to share the cool things you’re doing during Fall Forge, Do NOT share your pictures or videos during the hunt peoriod. When the hunt is over, you can show the world how awesome you are.

You’re playing to have fun, but to do so legally. If you break any laws at any time during any portion of the scavenger hunt, you or your team will be disqualified. This includes, but is not limited to, moving violations, trespassing, burglary, larceny, embezzlement, grand theft, petty theft, shoplifting, assault, plagiarism, blackmail, indecent exposure, decent exposure, recent exposure, having a concealed firearm, unlawfully discharging a firearm, unlawful sale of a firearm, brandishing a weapon, bribery, forgery, perjury, fraud, computer fraud, mail fraud, telemarketing fraud, tax evasion, tax fraud, insurance fraud, and securities fraud.

Protecting Participants

Submissions

Submissions MUST be received by 12pm CST on 10/3/2020. Late submissions will not be eligible for points.

Submissions may not contain references which are obscene, crude or vulgar, and/or which contain gang identification, license plate numbers, phone numbers, personal addresses (physical or email), derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual or religious groups, references to illegal or inappropriate activity, behavior or conduct, or any other references that could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, as determined by Sunrise Village, at its sole discretion. Submissions should be original works, and not copied, forged, manipulated or altered, with the exception of adjusting the exposure (i.e. making the image brighter) or color of an image.

Individual players and team captains will email their answers/pictures/videos to: fallforage@sunrisevillageiowa.org.

Submit each item individually. The email subject line MUST consist of the individual or team name AND item number.

Pictures and videos may be sent as attachments or links. Once a picture or video is submitted, the team or individual player cannot make changes.

You need to submit your videos by entering your youtube.com links. Be sure to mark your videos “UNLISTED” on Youtube so that we can see them, but no one else can.

Points 

Point values vary and are specified for each item on the list. 

* One (1) point will be awarded for each “easy” submission

* Three (3) points will be awarded for each “moderate” submission

* Five (5) points will be awarded for each “difficult” submission

* Four (4) points will be awarded for each “Item of the Day” that is submitted by 11:59pm on the day that it is emailed to the players.

Failure to follow the rules or submission requirements will result in ZERO points awarded for either a particular item or all items, depending on circumstances. Be safe, respectful, and follow the directions and you’ll be golden! 

Appeals

There is no appeals process in this scavenger hunt. There is also no crying. There’s no crying in scavenger hunts! All decisions by the judges are final. No exceptions. 

Disqualification

Failure to follow these rules may result in an individual or team being disqualified from the prize. This is left to the discretion of Sunrise Village.

Prizes

Individual players and Team Captains must submit their pictures and videos by 12pm CST or earlier on October 3, 2020, to qualify for prizes. The individual and team with the most points wins. If teams tie for points, time will be the tie breaking factor- the individual or team to complete their submissions first will win. Winners will be announced at 10:00am CST on October 17, 2020 to the winners of the individual and team categories.

The individual winner will receive a $50 gift card.

The team winner will receive $300 in gift cards.

Winners may choose from Amazon.com, Target, or local QCA businesses. Sunrise Village reserves the right to not purchase a gift card/ gift certificate from any business due to a history of tolerating, promoting, or engaging in discrimiation, civil rights violations, or selling services/ products that might damage the integrity of Sunrise Village.

The winners will be contacted on 10-17-2020 after the announcement to make arrangements for the gift cards.

Liability Waiver

Each participant (official players and non-players) agrees:

(i) to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and the decisions of Sunrise Village, which are final and binding on all matters relating to this Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt, and (ii) to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Sunrise VIllage, any city or business visited during the Scavenger Hunt, and Co-Sponsors from any & all claims, actions, and/or liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in and/or for entry into the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser, any related activities, or acceptance or use of any prize won. 

Privacy Policy

Sunrise Village will not share or sell contact or billing information for any of the participants. Although we may utilize the photo and video submissions, Sunrise Village WILL NOT disclose the names of the participants without prior authorization. Sunrise Village MAY publicly use the team name without needing additional authorization. To specify that you DO NOT give permission to use photos or videos for the stated purposes, submit your request to: fallforage@sunrisevillageiowa.org.

Registrations and payments are securely processed through TicketLeap.com.

We may collect the following information:

Name, email address, address or postal code, payment method, and telephone number. We collect this information in a number of ways, including when you provide it to us, interact with our representatives, or participate in surveys or events.

Information when you choose to provide “scavenged” items (images and videos), including information regarding the locations of such items or of your location when providing such information.

Use of Information

We use information to provide, analyze, administer, enhance and personalize our services and marketing efforts, to process your registrations, your payments, and to communicate with you on these and other topics. For example, we use information for:

1. Internal record keeping

2. Improving our products and services.

3. Communicating with you concerning our services, products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided. You may choose to “opt out” of these communications.

You can change your communication preferences at any time by choosing “unsubscribe” at the bottom of an email, or by contacting us at: contact@sunrisevillageiowa.org.

Disclosure

In consideration of the permission to participate in the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser, and the listed attendees agree to release and hold harmless Sunrise Village and the agents and volunteers thereof from any and all liability for personal injury, death, property damage or loss, or any other loss resulting from or arising out of my/ our participation in the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser. 

Participation in the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt fundraiser includes, but is not limited to the risk of death or serious injury such as driving to/from various locations in the Quad Cities and surrounding area, or the conduct of other participants, including their negligence or willful misconduct. I/we certify that I/we will abide by all rules and regulations of the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt fundraiser. 

I further acknowledge that failure to abide by all safety rules and the direction of the Sunrise Village staff or volunteers may result in my being disqualified from participating in the event and forfeiting eligibility for event prizes. I also agree to release Sunrise Village and sponsors of the event from any and all liabilities, claims, and causes of action, based on or arising from negligence or gross negligence on the part of the Sunrise Village, its agents and volunteers. 

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the provisions of this release and understand that it is binding upon myself and my assigns, heirs, executors, beneficiaries, family members, and derivative claimants. 

I further acknowledge that I have no medical history or condition that would preclude me from participating in the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser. 

I agree to all terms outlined in the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Rules and Regulations. I also agree to be interviewed and/or have my picture taken for Sunrise Village’s website and social media, use publicizing the event (not all participants will be asked for interviews/photos). 

Media Release

I release all submitted pictures and videos during the Fall Forage Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser to be used by Sunrise Village on their website and social media, as well as promotional purposes. Sunrise Village may alter the submitted media by adding their logo, Fall Forage graphics, future scavenger hunt graphics, and enhancing the quality of the media.
